Expanding access to exams

Remote Invigilation for International GCSEs

A secure, accessible exam route delivered in partnership with Pearson.

Remote Invigilation allows eligible students to sit their International GCSE exams at home under secure, monitored conditions.

Delivered through Pearson’s Remote Invigilation Service and facilitated by Tute, this option is designed for students who cannot attend a physical exam centre due to personal circumstances or additional needs.

What is Remote Invigilation?

Remote Invigilation is a Pearson-approved exam delivery method that enables students to complete their International GCSE exams from home while being supervised by trained invigilators online. Exams are monitored in real time using a secure online assessment platform, ensuring all exam integrity requirements are met.

This route is intended to widen access to exams for students who would otherwise face barriers to attending a physical centre.

Who is it for?

Remote Invigilation may be suitable for students who are studying on the International GCSE pathway with Tute and who:

  • Are unable to attend a physical exam centre due to anxiety, medical needs, SEND or EBSA
  • Face practical barriers to physical centre-based exams, such as transport, location or other attendance challenges
  • Require an alternative exam environment to support their individual needs

How does it work?

Remote Invigilation follows a structured and secure process, delivered in line with Pearson requirements through a secure online assessment platform.

Compulsory familiarisation takes place in advance to ensure students feel comfortable and confident on the day. Tute works with partners and families to ensure students are prepared and supported throughout the process.

  • Exams are supervised live by trained invigilators via webcam and microphone
  • Students complete exams in a private room at home
  • Approved access arrangements, such as rest breaks or extra time, can be supported where agreed in advance
  • Individual needs may be considered as part of the approval process, for example where reasonable adjustments are required
  • Parents or carers are required to support setup and submission on exam day
  • Clear guidance and support is provided on technology, room setup and exam-day expectations

Subjects available

Remote Invigilation is currently available for selected Pearson Edexcel International GCSE subjects, including:
