Setting the standard: What quality looked like at Tute in term 1

At Tute Education, quality isn’t just a process – it’s a promise. Quality first, every time.
Our delivery is driven by quality and it’s not just about meeting standards; it’s about continuously improving to ensure every student receives the best possible education. From lesson delivery to safeguarding checks, our approach to quality assurance (QA) ensures a consistent, high-quality learning experience for students and partners alike.
But what does QA actually look like at Tute? More importantly, how does it make a difference for the students and partners who trust us?
What did quality look like in term 1?
Quality assurance should never be done for the sake of it – it should be about refinement, collaboration, and ongoing development, all to improve. In term 1, we strengthened our commitment to quality even further, carrying out more QA checks than ever before:
- 717 QA checks completed – a 78% increase from last year
- 89% of live lessons met or exceeded expectations, as did 91% of asynchronous assessment
- 163 full lesson observations were carried out, ensuring excellence in live teaching
- 92% of progress reports and 96% of safeguarding spot checks conformed to our rigorous standards
Of course, quality is about far more than numbers – it has to be about impact. Every check, refinement, and improvement ensure that our students receive a consistent, high-quality education that genuinely makes a difference.
What did this mean for students?
A robust QA process ensures that every student receives an education that is:
- Consistently excellent – No matter the subject or teacher, lessons are engaging, well-structured, and of a high standard.
- Inclusive and supportive – Lessons are designed to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and other barriers to learning
- Continuously improving – Real-time feedback from students, parents, and partners allows us to adapt and enhance our approach.
- Focused on progress – Our QA framework measures lesson quality while ensuring students meet their academic goals, track their development, and build confidence in their abilities.
And students notice the quality:
“Tute’s great for learning, especially if you don’t like working in classrooms.”
“I love Tute! It’s much better for me than school, and I feel more confident.”
“Thanks so much, Tute – you’ve given me the strength and courage to want to join the army when I get older!”

What did this mean for teachers?
Our teachers know that our QA is about developing them, not judging them.
- Every teacher received a full lesson review, plus one-to-one coaching from a dedicated quality team member
- Ongoing support was provided through collaborative workshops, covering engagement, collaboration, and independent learning
- A culture of constructive feedback helped teachers refine their practice and grow professionally. Our teachers appreciate our supportive approach:
“The QA team is incredibly supportive. The process is a dialogue, not a judgment. I leave inspired and motivated after each session.” – Laurie, Teacher of English
“QA helps me reflect and set clear, achievable goals to improve my teaching. The process is always supportive and never judgmental.” – Jayne, Teacher of Science
Beyond the observation: how we’re building the future of online learning
We know that high-quality teaching leads to better student outcomes, and that means never standing still. Our QA framework is constantly evolving to refine best practices and raise the bar for online education.
Tute’s commitment to internal and external quality assurance ensures that every lesson, report, and process reflects our dedication to excellence. As online and alternative education evolve, so do we. At Tute, we don’t just set high standards – we raise them.
