Parent & Carer Newsletter – End of Summer Term 2024/25

Celebrating a year of connection, support, and partnership

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of the academic year, we want to take a moment to thank you for being part of the Tute Parent & Carer community.

Whether your child accessed Tute for a few weeks or throughout the year, we know how important your role has been; supporting your child behind the scenes, navigating new routines, and asking the right questions to help them thrive.

This year, through the Parent & Carer Hub, we’ve focused on keeping you informed, connected, and supported. Here’s a look back at what’s taken place:

Coffee mornings: community and conversation

We’ve hosted a series of informal, online coffee mornings where parents and carers could come together, ask questions, share experiences, and hear directly from members of the Tute team.

These sessions covered the topics:

  • Navigating adolescence in a digital world
  • Embracing family diversity

Don’t worry if you couldn’t attend – newsletters to accompany the coffee morning were posted on the hub shortly after so that you can keep up to date.

Our next session, ‘Easing the transition back to routine’ will take place on the 12th of September at 10am, no need to register, just join using the link found on the hub events calendar, which can be accessed via the image below.

Live webinars: insights and support

Our live webinars offered deeper insight into topics that matter most to families, including:

  • Building confidence in online learners
  • GCSE preparation and expectations
  • Wellbeing and resilience support
  • How alternative provision supports
    different learning needs

We’re always grateful for the thoughtful questions and feedback shared in these sessions, they help us shape future events around what matters most to you.

More to come next year!

OEAS inspection: thank you for your support

This term, Tute underwent a formal inspection process with OEAS (Online Education Accreditation Scheme), a nationally recognised body that evaluates the quality and safety of online education provision.

Accreditation is a vital step for us as it ensures that we continue to meet the highest standards for online teaching, safeguarding, student progress, and leadership. It gives commissioners and parents added confidence that our provision is externally validated and robust.

We want to take a moment to sincerely thank you, the parents and carers who volunteered to speak with inspectors as part of this process. Your insights, honesty, and support were incredibly valuable and deeply appreciated.

We look forward to sharing the results with you in due course.

Working together to tackle bullying

This year, Tute has strengthened its commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive online learning environment by partnering with the Anti-Bullying Alliance. As part of this work, we’ve also joined a steering group with the Welsh Government and the Anti-Bullying Alliance, contributing to national conversations about how to better protect and empower young people in education.

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2025 is “The Power of Good” and we’re proud to be taking part in this vital campaign, which will run in November. We’ll be offering themed content, resources, and opportunities for students to engage with this important message and reflect on how small acts of kindness and inclusion can make a big difference.

More details on how you and your child can get involved will be shared closer to the time but we’re already excited to play our part in helping make online and offline spaces safer for everyone.

Our commitment to autism-inclusive practice

As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusive, high-quality education for all learners, we’re proud to share that we plan to apply for the Autism Specialism Award from the National Autistic Society in the coming academic year. This prestigious recognition is awarded to settings that demonstrate excellence in their understanding, support, and provision for autistic young people.

Through this process, we’ll be building on our existing inclusive practices, working closely with autistic students, families, and professionals to ensure we continue to provide a learning environment that is safe, accessible, and empowering for every learner. We look forward to sharing more about our progress as this journey develops.

We’d love your voice on our Parent/Carer panel

At Tute, we believe that the best education happens when students, teachers, and parents work together. That’s why we’re inviting you to join our Parent Panel – a space where your voice, experience, and ideas can help shape what we do.

The panel will give you the chance to:

  • Share your views and feedback directly with us
  • Help us improve our offer and support for all students
  • Be part of positive change in online education

You don’t need any special expertise – just a willingness to share your honest thoughts and help us keep students at the centre of everything we do.

If you’re interested in getting involved, an expression of interest form is available HERE for you to complete. Look out for more information on the hub.

We’d love to hear from you!
