Biology: Organisation Part 1
The Organisation Part 1 topic begins by looking at levels of organisation, from cells to organ systems We define what a tissue is and describe how cells multiple, before examining the functions of the major plant and animal organs We cover the digestive system in detail, looking at its components, its structure and function. Enzymes play a major role in digestion and we discuss the various roles of enzymes, through the use of models of enzyme action and explore factors that affect enzyme rates We also take a focused look at the circulatory system and the structure of blood vessels.

Biology: Organisation Part 2
Organisation Part 2 continues on from Part 1 and begins by looking at the components of blood and how we classify blood groups. Factors affecting health, such as inheritance and lifestyle choices are discussed in this topic. We look at the causes and prevention of diseases such as cancer and describe some developments in treatments in the 21stcentury.We finish the topic by looking at organisation in plants. This includes their transport systems, a recap of where osmosis and active transport occur within plants and a look at the structure and adaptations of plant leaves.

Physics: Energy Part 1
The Energy topic begins by recapping KS3 knowledge of energy types before moving on to look at energy transfers.
We draw simple energy-transfer diagrams showing changes in energy.
We pay particular attention to kinetic, elastic potential and gravitational potential energy and provide opportunities to practice calculations such as work done, power and energy efficiency. We complete Part 1 by taking a look at specific heat capacity, we explain the difference between heat and temperature and recall the factors that affect the energy needed to change the temperature of a substance.

Physics: Energy Part 2
In Energy Part 2 we begin by defining power and calculating energy efficiency of an appliance in terms of power. We evaluate how to save energy by discussing useful and wasted energy and explain what happens when heat escapes to the surroundings. The topic concludes by exploring both renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and how the electricity provided by these can be distributed by the National Grid.

Chemistry: Bonding, structure and the properties of matter Part 1
This topic begins by looking at ionic bonding and how we represent them in diagrams and chemical formulae.
We then look at covalent bonding in simple molecular compounds and how it compares with ionic bonding. The properties of metals are often affected by the way they bond together so we look at this before moving on to both giant ionic and covalent structures and investigating how their properties are determined by the bonds they form.

Chemistry: Bonding, structure and the properties of matter Part 2
During Bonding, structure and the properties of matter Part 2 we move on to look at the reactivity series, including the reactions of halogens and the reactions of metals. This includes a look at displacement reactions and practice at writing balanced word and symbol equations for some of the reactions. We focus on states of matter and what happens during a change of state and then finish the topic by looking at how polymers are made and used, and apply the particle model to explain different properties of alloys.

Every Tute session is recorded. This means that we monitor every lesson and ensure the very best quality of teaching. Parents can review the lesson too, as can the student for revision.
